Huawei is betting on the mobile format again compact folding with the new Huawei Nova Flip, a year after the Huawei P50 Pocket. Now, under the Nova sub-brand and with an external screen that is square and not round.
The Huawei Nova Flip is a new adversary for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and company, with Harmony OS 4.2 under the arm, 66W fast charging and a design somewhat different from other folding phones of the style.

The external screen is not in fashion
There are two schools of thought when it comes to foldable phones: the book-style foldable phone for the CEO of the company and the compact “flip” or clamshell type foldable phones. This year it seems that the latter style is becoming more popular and Huawei has reinforced its Nova line with a new foldable phone of this style: the Huawei Nova Flipthe first of its kind but not one of Huawei’s compact foldables: Just a few months ago, they announced the Huawei Pocket 2.
The Huawei Nova Flip It is a cheaper optionwhich means we’re looking at somewhat more restrained specifications. For starters, inside we should find an in-house Kirin 8000 and 12GB of RAM (although Huawei doesn’t mention it officially). Storage is 256GB, 512GB or 1TB.
The Huawei Nova Flip’s flexible main screen is made of 6.94 inches, OLED, with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Perforated at the top we find the 32 megapixel front camera.
Behind we have the external screen, which is somewhat small compared to what is popular today On other flip phones: 2.14-inch OLED, 480 x 480 pixel resolution and a rectangular format instead of round. The screen itself is integrated next to the camera module.
For photography the Huawei Nova Flip has a Dual camera with a 50-megapixel main sensor and an 8-megapixel wide-angle.
As for the battery, the Huawei Nova Flip mounts a 4,400 mAh battery with support for 66W fast chargingThe terminal includes the fingerprint reader on the power button and goes on sale with HarmonyOS 4.2 pre-installed.
Huawei Nova Flip versions and prices
The Huawei Nova Flip has been initially announced in China and we have no news yet about its release in other regions. It is available in the following colours: green, black, white and pink and the following versions:
- Huawei Nova Flip 12+256 GB: 5,288 yuan, about 677 euros at the current exchange rate.
- Huawei Nova Flip 12+512 GB: 5,688 yuan, about 728 euros at the current exchange rate.
- Huawei Nova Flip 12GB + 1TB: 6,488 yuan, about 830 euros at the current exchange rate.
