Did you also forget about Super Mario Run in your app library? Well, now seems like a good time to bring it back, and that’s exactly what I did: I took advantage of a couple of reviews I have in progress to return to this magnificent game. Yes, magnificent, I think time has been very good to Super Mario Run: It’s a real mobile game.
My mobile game collection is endless, and I’ve accumulated most of the great titles that have come out on both mobile stores, the App Store and Google Play. I even subscribe to both of their subscription services, Apple Arcade and Google Play Pass: they’re worth the money if you’re looking for great smartphone games. But every now and then it’s worth picking up the gems, both to relive the moments you enjoyed with them and to give them a second chance. Super Mario Run fits both.
Despite the criticism, Super Mario Run is a worthy heir to the classics
I was also one of those who missed complete control of Mario in the adaptation for smartphones, I think the application loses a significant portion of playability just because of the fact that the protagonist is always running. Even so, the rest of the magic created by Miyamoto survives, which ends up turning another “Run” into an authentic Super Mario.
The move to make the download free and then require a purchase within the app for most of the game doesn’t seem like the best idea to me either. Even so, I think the game is still cheap given the length and number of hours of entertainment it offers. Even with the first free worlds: it took me several hours just to get the black coins in the free zone. I didn’t remember it being so difficult.
Iconic characters, worlds copied from the original 2D games, super fluid animations adapted to smartphones, Extra content that has not stopped growing since day onethe option to play Super Mario Run with Luigi and different difficulty modes for those who want to get through the game without complications. Discovering every hidden secret is a very complicated task.
Nintendo has kept Super Mario Run alive, the content available for the game has grown over the years
I’m enjoying it more than the first day. In fact, I started from scratch and I don’t move on to the next screen until I complete the coin challenges. On a foldable Fold-style phone, it’s an absolute delight. Even though there’s only one button, there are still complex actions, but there are millimetric jumps that require remarkable skill.
I have all of August to complete 100%
I’ve set myself the challenge of completing Super Mario Run before the end of August, let’s see if I can manage it. And my recommendation is that you also give it another chance: with the number of freemium games in the app stores, getting into one like the one Nintendo created almost eight years ago is a breath of fresh air. It doesn’t seem like time has passed for Super Mario Run.
