There are many reasons why you can need to use your mobile as a router:
- To share the Internet with other people
- To share Internet with your computer when its connection is not good or if you don’t have WiFi
- To use the Internet on another mobile phone of yours without contracting another data plan
- You can choose who to share Internet with and configure it to your needs.
- It allows you to provide Internet to mobile phones from other brands, not just Samsung
- You can share Internet with any device anytime, anywhere
Also It has its drawbackswhich you should keep in mind:
- If your rate is limited, you have to control your expenses
- It will consume your mobile’s battery and it will last less
- Don’t share with people you don’t know or trust because they could access your phone.
- Both devices have to be close to each other to take full advantage of the connection.
There are several ways to share Internet from a Samsung Galaxy so that other devices can connect, which you can also configure to your liking according to the available options, so we will tell you what they are. Once you activate it, the another device just has to turn on Wifi, see your connection and enter the password that you have established.
Mobile hotspot
Mobile hotspot is an option that allows you to share your Internet connection with other devices easily, and we tell you how to do it:
- Go to mobile settings
- Look for the Connections section
- Click on the option Mobile hotspot and network tethering
- Click on the switch next to Mobile Hotspot to activate it
- You can see the network name and password
- Go to Settings to edit the information and set the password with which you will share the data
After that, you just have to activate it again whenever you want, or from the quick settings if you see it. If you don’t see this option on your mobile or you are looking for another one, follow the steps below. On the other device, you will have to turn on WiFi. You can also tap the QR code on the Mobile Hotspot screen and scan the QR code with the other device. This way, you can share the data connection with other devices that are signed in to their Samsung account.
The first thing you need to do is set up connection sharing and when you’ve done that Sharing data will be as simple as activating it whenever you want:
- Go to settings or configure in the nut at the top of the screen
- Click on Connections
- Go to Sharing connection and modem
- Click now on Shared connection
- Press on Configure
- Click on Network name, password and privacy to set your preferences
- The password is the one that other devices will use to enter your network.
- Hit save
- Then, where it says disabled, press to activate it
Whenever you want to share Internet, you will go to the shared connection section and activate it. The other device will connect by activating the WiFi like any other connection.
Via Bluetooth
If you activate Bluetooth, another way to do it is to share via this route with the other device that must also have Bluetooth activated. It consumes less battery than the previous option, so it is a good alternative:
- Go to mobile settings
- Click on Connections
- Go to Sharing connection and modem
- Press on Bluetooth modem
You can also do it from Mobile Hobspot:
- Go to settings
- Click on connections
- Tap on Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
- Slide the switch to activate it
- Search for the device from Bluetooth
By USB modem
To activate this option, you need to connect the USB, otherwise it won’t appear. It’s ideal if you need to download large files or make backups, or a more stable connection than the previous one and you have the cable for it:
- Go to mobile settings
- Press in Connections
- Press Sharing connection and modem
- Active USB Modem
Via Ethernet cable
Just like a router, some mobile phones can share the connection with a specific Ethernet cable so that the Internet connection is more stable than with WiFi, although you will need to have that cable, so it is not usually the preferred option for many unless they use it for work or for specific purposes where a faster connection is needed. You can activate it like this:
- Go to mobile settings
- Click on Connections
- Press Sharing connection and modem
- If your mobile has it, tap on Ethernet
Any of these methods allows you to share the Internet with other devices, with their particularities that will allow you to choose the one you want at any time. Once the you configure it correctly you won’t have to do it again. After that, sharing Internet will be as simple as activating the corresponding option from the Connections section of the mobile and having the other person connect to the WiFi to find your connection. If you have unlimited data, this will not be a problem, but if not, control your spending so as not to go over and run out of it.
