The moment you start seeing young people writing things you don’t understand it is a sign that you are not young anymore. Or at least not as much as them. But nothing happens, and it is said by someone who is living it in their flesh to the thread of strange “codes” that are going viral on different social networks like TikTok, in Instagram stories and even as private messages on WhatsApp.

And these enigmatic codes, far from being mobile malware, phone scams or the like, hide a positive meaning. At least in a general way, since we will see below that you can do as many readaptations as you want.

From “I love you forever” to whatever you want. That hide these numbers

Like many viral phenomena, finding the exact origin of the numbers is not easy. As we already said, it was on TikTok where it began to be seen for the first time and where we still find it today with examples that explain its meaning well.

Plain and simple come to be codes that can be translated into phrases like “I love you”. This is the case with 1437, which is one of the most widespread as it means “I love you forever” (“I love you forever”, in Spanish) or 143 simply as “I love you” (I love you). The meaning in that case of each character would be:

  • 1:”I”
  • 4: love
  • 3: “you”
  • 7: “forever”

Perhaps you will think that based on this there is a numerical dictionary or something like that and that the number “1” for example can always mean “I” (“I”), but nothing is further from reality, since the meaning can change as many times as the person who publishes it wants.

tiktok codes

The same is true of 7642 and other such numbers. In fact, it is common that on TikTok each person publish their own dictionary. In the previous image we can see it clearly. And occasionally it can also be used for ask followers for interaction offering them a system of codes with different definitions that they can use in comments to classify the person they are seeing.

So we see that at the end they are somewhat random codes, despite the fact that in some cases a common meaning is extended. In a certain way, it does not stop being another social game among young people, as happened at the time with the viral game Dablooons. And hey, we may not be as in on it as young people to find out, but by proxy, we can also play and use these codes.
