Perhaps some of you do not know, but there is a list prepared by Xiaomi that we do not want to be on, since that would mean that our phone will stop receiving official updates from the brand. This is what is known as the EOS (End Of Support) list, and we must tell you that it has just been updated with up to four new devices as of February 27, 2023.
Unfortunately, the brand has added new phones to stop supporting it as of this past March 1, 2023 Therefore, unfortunately, they will never be updated either at the MIUI version level or with Android security patches, terrible news for all users who use any of these devices in their day to day.
These four Redmi phones stop updating officially
In this case, the smartphones affected by this list update correspond to the Redmi K30 5G Speed, Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8T and Redmi 8A Dual, all of them launched during the year 2019so it was to be expected that sooner or later they would join it.
Therefore, all those users who own one of these devices and want to keep that security protection provided by Android updates, unfortunately they will have to buy a new more current equipment to provide them with that feature as they will not be able to do so from now on.
In short, it seems that the Xiaomi EOS list does not stop updating month after month by adding new terminals to it. If you have a Xiaomi that is about four years old, it is likely that it will be included very soonso it would not be a bad option to think about renewing it if you want to keep those updates that are so important for our daily use with the smartphone.
