Microsoft is already working on the next big update of Windows 11, 24H2. This new version of the operating system will be very focused on Artificial Intelligence, in addition to including many other changes within the system that will make it, little by little, become what it should have been at launch. However, although there are still months before the arrival of the new version, the controversy is already served.
The arrival of Windows 11 has been highly criticized by users. The requirements for Secure Boot, TPM, and relatively modern hardware left many computers without official support from Microsoft. Microsoft’s goal is to have much more control over the hardware on which its system runs so that there are as few errors as possible when installing monthly security patches and new versions.
Windows 11 24H2 is going to be even much stricter in terms of hardware and software compatibility. And, to do this, Microsoft is going to resort to a well-known technique that it has already used in the past: blocking potentially incompatible programs that can cause problems. And we already have the first list of the programs that are going to be blocked.
Programs incompatible with Windows 11 24H2
The Windows 11 Insider users You can now download and install the first development version of 24H2. In this way, we have already been able to have a first contact with this update, its changes and new features. However, the German blog Deskmodder has gone one step further, and has been investigating a series of programs and processes that, if the installation wizard detects them, will not allow us to update the PC.
The list of programs that block Windows 11 24H2 is:
- ConisioAdmin.exe, a process that is part of the Solidworks PDM program.
- EaseUS Disk Copy.exe, EaseUS backup software executable.
- ep_dwm.exe, a process present on computers that have installed the ExplorerPatcher software.
- iCloudServices.exe, an iCloud service that allows us to share files via WhatsApp from the explorer.
- RadeonSoftware.exe, AMD Radeon graphics control panel.
- StartAllBackCfg.exe, a tool to reconfigure the classic Windows Start menu.
- Driver Intel IntcOED.sys.
- Driver Intel IntcAudioBus.sys.
- Wi-Fi Driver Realtek 8192su Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter.
- Multi-mon + Copilot, a Microsoft software that is not compatible with its new version.
- MergeSdb, same as above.
But this does not stop here, and Microsoft’s new checking system can detect and block even software that we have installed, without updating, on our PC.
Solution to the problem
If all goes well, this new version of Windows 11 should reach users in the fall of this year. Therefore, there is still time to remedy it. Microsoft, for its part, will continue adding patches so that the number of incompatible programs, processes and dependencies are as few as possible.
In addition, the software developers (such as Intel, AMD, Realtek, or those of the other problems) have time to release new versions of these programs that are compatible. Our responsibility will be to update all the programs that we have installed on the PC before installing this new version.
