Our colleague Eva Rodríguez has related her own experience with a Bizum of 100 euros that she received from an unknown number and How did you know if it was a scam or just someone’s mistake?. It is known that many people take advantage of technologies to defraud others and Bizum has not been spared from this.
You have received a BIZUM of 100.00 EUR from Gloria per meal.
It was the message that Eva Rodríguez received. And in her bank account, indeed, I had received that amount of money (remember that this app makes instant transactions).
At first, it seems very normal because it is very common to go to a restaurant and for one person to pay an account and the rest pay their part through Bizum (in this case, an expensive restaurant, yes) or it could be that a group of friends have gone on vacation for a few days and have paid in the supermarket with the card of one of the people and then pay the money with this technology. The concept of “food” is not unusual.

In Bizum you can see the number of the sender

When you receive money through Bizum, the app tells you the name of the person who sent it to you. But Eva, who doesn’t have any people named Gloria on her schedule, he went to take a look at his bank application to see if he could get his number to send him a WhatsApp, Telegram or any message and see what had happened there.
In the case of our colleague, with the LK-Pay app from Caja Laboral you can see that person’s phone number. In my case, with Ruralvia Pay from Caja Rural, I have verified that too. Only you must go to the history of movements and with the name of the person who has sent you money or to whom you have sent, their phone number also appears.
When you carry out a transaction with Bizum, you cannot cancel money transfers and the solution to an error would be to contact the other person and request a refund. This could be used by a cybercriminal in her favor with some ruse. In this case, Eva did not receive any messages from Gloria. Neither to confirm the receipt of the money (something very common to do when you send money) or to request a refund for the error.
Our colleague decided to call Gloria on the phone: she was an elderly lady who had made a mistake, since she wanted to send the 100 euros to another person. So in this case, It was not one of the many scams that surround us, but Eva ended up doing a good deed, being able to return the money to the woman so that she could forward it to the corresponding person.
