Mobile app stores are not exactly short of games, as entertainment is one of their main assets. And new ones keep coming out: one of the latest RPGs to see the light, Sword of Convallariais now available for download from Google Play and App Store. Classic 8-bit style, with a deep story, RPG and with an extreme passion for every detail. I’m loving it.
I still remember spending days playing titles like Secret of Evermore on my Super Nintendo or the legendary Zelda on my Game Boy. Those RPGs set trends in the industry and also in my preferences. Little by little, my tastes evolved until I left RPGs aside, they require too much attention at the beginning to get hooked. And Sword of Convallaria did just the opposite: it’s one of the few mobile RPGs that caught my attention even before I downloaded it.
Detailed, free-to-play Pixel Art RPG
Like any classic RPG, the story of Sword of Convallaria takes up much of the game’s attention. It aims to be complex, deep, full of charismatic characters. And with clear inspiration from classics like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy TacticsIn fact, Sword of Convallaria has tactical RPG mechanics.
Anticipated during 2023, it has not been until now that it has finally been made available to the public. During the first good time that I spent with it, the sensations were positive, especially due to the aura of mystery, the graphic quality and the setting. The sound has also seemed notable to me. With the extra of having the voices available in Japanese; along with the inconvenience that The texts are only in English.
And there’s a lot of text, like any RPG.
Attacks are performed in turns and with a marked range on the terrain. As heroes are added to the group, the variety and complexity of the strategy increases, as do the abilities of each character. Sword of Convallaria offers a huge variety of options. And Every decision changes historyso no game should be exactly the same.
Sword of Convallaria is a free-to-download game that does not include ads, although it does include in-app purchases. These purchases are based on the acquisition of internal currency, which gives access to buying all kinds of items and advantages with which to enhance players’ skills and weapons. There is no need to spend moneythe experience is equally positive (at least in the short and medium term). And the progression seems adequate, at least according to what I have been testing.
It’s a game worth spending time on. And it promises to pay off the effort with satisfaction: the graphics, sound and gameplay quality seemed to me to be worthy of a AAA. And this is excellent news for a mobile game: although it is not exactly original, it is brings freshness to the touch RPG genreBased on my experience with the first game, I think it’s a good one. I already have a game for this vacation.
Sword of Convallaria is available on the Google Play Store and App Store. As I said, the download is free. A permanent Internet connection is required.
