Since Intel is set to present its financial results for the second quarter of 2024, we have been hearing negative news about the company practically every day. We are not just talking about the planned layoffs that were announced a few weeks ago. To this we must add that the latest news indicates that the project to create the chip factory in Germany is up in the air, that the 13th and 14th generation processors are still having problems and sales are not keeping up either.
The main reason why Intel processor sales are not good is related to the instability offered by the last two generations that it has launched on the market and it mainly affects users who assemble their own computers, who are the ones who are aware of all the news related to Intel and AMD processors.
This is the conclusion reached by the PC component sales platform, Danwana, a platform that has seen sales of Intel processors have fallen considerably in recent months, with AMD being the main beneficiary.
More problems for Intel
According to the report that has been published, users who buy the parts to assemble their own equipment have stopped considering Intel as an option, causing a 45% drop and the last few months have been accentuated with a drastic drop in sales of 10%. AMD with the Ryzen range has taken over sales due to Intel’s poor management of the processors 13th and 14th generation.
The performance issue that Intel’s 13th and 14th generation processors are experiencing affects more than 8 million CPUs in Korea alone. Because of this, the Korean market is aware that Intel is not to be trusted. The drop in sales of Intel processors has allowed AMD to surpass an average of 50% market share in recent months, being one of the best-selling processors in Ryzen 5 7500F.
AMD is not spared
The new generation AMD Ryzen 9000 which the company launched on the market a few weeks ago, is not offering the expected performance at the moment, but at least it does not have stability problems, and after carrying out different tests, it has been concluded that the problem is not in the processor or in the Zen 5 architecture, but in the software optimization, something easy to fix.
As we have published on several occasions, the problem of the low performance of the range Ryzen 9000 AMD’s processors are only found in Windows 11, as in different Linux distros, including the one designed by Intel, these processors offer up to 16% higher performance.
Fortunately, as we informed you a few hours ago, Microsoft and Windows are already working to solve the performance issues that are experiencing this new range of processors, so, by the time Windows 11 24H2 is released, scheduled for before the end of the year, the performance issues should already have been resolved.
