A Mumbai woman lost Rs 7 lakh of her hard-earned money in pursuit of freebies. In fact, the woman received a call from an unknown number in which the man introduced himself as Saurabh Sharma and said that he was calling from the bank. Saurabh offered the woman a credit card and also offered free membership of a sports club in the city. The woman was happy to hear the offer and agreed to the credit card.
The woman provided Sourav with her Aadhaar card and other personal information so that the credit card process could begin. Saurabh then told the woman that she could activate the credit card from home through her Android phone. Although the woman used to run the iPhone. Then the fraudster also gave an Android phone to the woman for free to execute this scam. To deliver the phone at home, the fraudster also took her address from the woman and delivered the phone at home the same day.
The scammer named Saurabh Sharma had already installed two apps DOT Secure and Secure Envoy Authenticator on the phone. As soon as the woman got the phone she inserted the sim card in it and started activating the credit card. Shortly after this, the woman received an SMS in which Rs 7 lakh was deducted from her account. As soon as she received this message, the woman felt that she had become a victim of a scam and then filed a case against it.
The fraudster cleverly stole the personal information of the woman and used it to siphon off seven lakh rupees of her hard earned money. The only fault of the woman was that she fell in the greed of freebies and from here the process of cheating started. Always keep in mind that never share your personal information with anyone. Never tell anything especially to strangers. If you ever receive such a call or any other type of message, ignore it and save yourself from such scams.
