Long videos for Instagram as a new measure to curb the growth of TikTok and gain the same popularity as YouTube.

Instagram lengthens Reels to compete with TikTok and YouTube. The social network is about to change the rules of the game and bet on a duration that would compete face to face with the videos that are published on the Google entertainment platform. The changes would be made to try to curb the rise of YouTube Shorts and, of course, minimize the popularity of TikTok.

Up to 10 minutes long for Instagram Reels. The leak that Engadget collects and that comes from the hand of Alessandro Paluzzi indicates that, soon, the Instagram Reels will have a much longer duration than the current one. The 3-minute limit would be completely eliminated, being able to upload content designed for other platforms.

Longer videos and more variety of content. The short format in videos has meant the victory of TikTok over Instagram or YouTube, but it seems that the future has always been long videos. Condensing the information in just 30 seconds is almost impossible and to create certain content it is necessary not to have such strict limits.

Making Reels longer can be beneficial for Instagram for a number of reasons. First of all, it can improve the experience of the users, who will have more options to create and consume videos. In addition, you can increase the time spent in the application, which translates into more opportunities to show ads and generate income.

What challenges does extending Instagram Reels pose?

This could cause users to lose interest or get bored watching the Reels.

Some users have been enthusiastic about the idea of ​​being able to view and create longer videos on Instagram.
