One of the most anticipated novelties of Windows 11 was the arrival of the Windows Subsystem for Android. Thanks to Hyper-V, and the Amazon App Store, it is possible to install Android apps and games directly on the computer, although the functionality is very limited due to Amazon’s own app store. Luckily, this is about to change, and very soon we will be able to enjoy many more apps and games on the PC, and that is Google Play Games prepares its arrival in Europe.
What is Google Play Games?
Google launched its Google Play Games program in 2021, the same year Windows 11 came to users. However, Google and Microsoft did not reach an agreement, and finally Windows 11 had, as an ally, the Amazon App Store. And, just like on mobile, it has been a complete failure. While Amazon and Microsoft began to test the new Android app store around the world in order to adjust the subsystem that allows these apps to run as much as possible, Google was working on its own solution to bring apps and, above all, games , to PC.
There are two features that differentiate Windows Subsystem for Android from Google Play Games. The first is that the Google service includes Google Play Services, which multiplies the compatibility with Android apps and games. And the second is that it is not just limited to Windows 11, but it is going to work on Windows 10 as well.
Coming to Europe very soon
Google began testing its service, in beta phase, in some countries such as the United States, Canada, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, Malaysia and the Philippines. Users in these countries have been able to use the new Google service and install their favorite apps and games on their computers. Now, a year later, Google wants to take a new step and has announced that Google Play Games will arrive in the areas of Europe and Japan so that its inhabitants can also enjoy this feature.
At the moment there is not much more official information about it. Google indicates that the arrival in these two new regions will take place over the next two monthsand it is not known if it will reach all of Europe, or only some specific countries (and if Spain will be among them).
In addition, Google has indicated that it is working on adding new games to its service, so that, together with the arrival in our region, we will also be able to enjoy an even larger catalog of titles. Yes indeed, this catalog remains infinitely limitedespecially compared to the large number of apps and games that we can find in the Android Play Store.
