Bloomberg recently reported that the company has started manufacturing iPhone 15 in the country. This smartphone is being manufactured in the Chennai factory of Apple contract manufacturer Foxconn. Another media report claims that Apple’s iPhone 15 Plus will also be manufactured in the same factory in the next quarter. Apple may also import iPhones assembled in China into the country before the festive season in the country.
The company launched the iPhone 15 series on Tuesday. This series includes iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The new A17 Bionic chipset was used in the iPhone 15 Pro models. The company claims that this chipset has better efficiency and more power than the A16. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also have the same USB Type-C charging port as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.
The price of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage variants of iPhone 15 Pro in India is Rs 1,34,900, Rs 1,44,900, Rs 1,64,900 and Rs 1,84,900 respectively. The company has priced the 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage variants of iPhone 15 Pro Max at Rs 1,59,900, Rs 1,79,900 and Rs 1,99,900 respectively. Pre-booking of these smartphones will start from September 15. Apple has planned to increase production in India. The company prepared to shift most of its production in China to India. Apple also plans to increase manufacturing of smartphone parts in the country. Recently, senior officials of the company told about their plan in a meeting with Finance Ministry officials. The meeting focused on understanding the supply chain and using more indigenous components in the manufacturing of iPhones.
