Now that the Playstation VR they are causing a sensation, many people want one, but when they remember that day they made a virtual visit to a museum and almost ended up throwing up, they lose their desire. That is so, it is undeniable that the virtual reality glasses some users are dizzy. And also they tire the eyes a lot. But are they really dangerous?

The truth is that, in principle, they are not. At least no more than using other electronic devices with a screen or even walking on a treadmill. Yes, it may seem that this has nothing to do with PlayStation VR or virtual reality in general, but there is a relationship. After all, both things can come to pass. dizzy a lot

This affects some people more than others. In addition, it should also be taken into account that with certain eye conditions you may not be able to get the full VR experience. In other words, it would not be possible to achieve that three-dimensional effect. But, otherwise, there is no problem with using them, as long as they do not slip over time. In that case, our heads may end up aching a lot.

Disadvantages of virtual reality

Both PlayStation VR and other virtual reality glasses have a relatively simple mechanism. Basically, to get that three dimensional effectThey project an image into each eye. Thus, the flat effect of a normal television screen is eliminated, in which the two eyes rest on the same image.

The result is fascinating, but it is also a extra effort for the brain. Therefore, when a while passes, fatigue can occur. In addition, the screen (or screens) is very close to the eyes. Therefore, these must be constantly focusing. As a result, eye muscles, called ciliary muscles, have to work harder, also causing eyestrain. If to all this we add that the light falls directly on the eyes, it is understandable that, after a while, our heads can hurt.

On the other hand, virtual reality make some people very dizzy. This is because the brain receives the same signals that it would receive if we were moving. But we are not. This gives rise to a mismatch between the signals received by the vestibular apparatus of the earin charge of balance, and what the eyes see. That is why dizziness is generated. It doesn’t happen to everyone equally, because we don’t all have the same threshold at which these imbalances cause symptoms. However, if you’re the type to get seasick on the treadmill or boat, then PlayStation VR might not be for you.

Can everyone enjoy PlayStation VR?

Beyond dizziness and eyestrain, virtual reality glasses do not usually pose risks. However, as explained by the American Association of Ophthalmology, it may be that people with strabismus or amblyopia cannot enjoy devices such as PlayStation VR. This is because the former present misalignment in both eyes and the latter an imbalance in the visual strength of each one of them. Therefore, it cannot correctly reconstruct the three-dimensional image.

That doesn’t mean it’s dangerous for them, just that they won’t be able to enjoy the full experience.

Ultimately, virtual reality may not be for everyone. Perhaps the people most prone to dizziness prefer to avoid it. And those who cannot see it in all its splendor do not consider the expense profitable. But given the sales of PlayStation VR, it’s clear that many people were willing to give it a go. There must be a reason.
