The fact that dust filters act as a barrier to prevent dust and dirt from entering the PC’s interior necessarily means that they are the element that gets dirtiest, and therefore the one you will have to clean most frequently. Fortunately, most cases that incorporate dust filters have a system that allows you to remove the filter without even opening the PC case, so removing them to clean them is a very simple task. Now, how should they be cleaned? Let’s see.
How to properly clean dust filters
Cleaning the PC filters is actually very simple, and you just have to keep in mind that you should avoid using any type of producttothat is, do not use soap, dust product, or even isopropyl alcohol. Dust filters They are cleaned with waterno more, no less. It is important that the water is cold, since if you use hot water you could cause the filter to deform or the grid to come loose.
Personally, the way we do this is simply to put them under the tap, letting the water jet pass over the entire surface and, if necessary, helping with your fingers to make the layer of dust and dirt go down the drain. It is important to do this on both sides of the filter.
Once you are happy with how the filter looks, it obviously needs to be dried before re-fitting it, and for this you have a few options… what we usually do is first shake it so that the larger water droplets come off, and then we place it on a kitchen cloth or similar and gently dry it, without squeezing or dragging, so that all the water goes away.
Be careful with the plastic parts on the edges of almost all filters, because water tends to accumulate there, and you have to make sure that everything is completely dry before mounting it on the PC. It is important that you do not use a hairdryer with hot air, as this could cause the filter to deform or even cause the grid to come loose if it is glued on. You can use a hairdryer, but make sure that it is one that allows you to turn off the heat and only pushes air.
With the filter completely clean and dry, you can now remount it in your PC case and it will be ready to do its job for another season. By the way, if you ask us, we usually do this process at least 2 or 3 times a year, especially important in summer because at that time we tend to have the windows of the house open and more dust usually enters than with the windows closed.
