What is happening with the series and movies that disappear from SkyShowtime? This weekend we have started to see a stir around the new video-on-demand platform. And it is that, a strange expiration notice has appeared in many of its seriesbut there are also films that, directly, have disappeared.
Some have returned over the hours, so it could be a bug, but others are gone and haven’t appeared all weekend. Let’s see calmly what’s going on with skyshowtime. And yes, we have a response from customer service.
Are SkyShowtime series and movies disappearing? At the moment, Fast and Furious is not
If you access SkyShowtime right now (it doesn’t matter if you do it on the desktop or on the web), everything seems normal. However, you may if you click on a content you see a notice of “28 days remaining”.
It is a notice that has been appearing for a few days and it is a countdown. If you had seen it yesterday, for example, a “29 days remaining” would appear. In fact, there are already users on Reddit who are complaining about this -one of the threads, and another- and comments along these lines have also been seen on the SkyShowtime Spain Facebook account.
It all started between Friday and Saturday, when all seasons of ‘Dexter’ were withdrawn except the first, as well as the ‘Fast and Furious’ saga. Within a few hours, ‘Dexter’ returned, but the saga of Toreto and ‘La familia’ is still not available on the platform (and it was one of the most powerful promotional content on the service).
However, Dexter’s reappearance was accompanied by a notice. Now, the first season – which, let’s remember, did not disappear – shows a “28 days remaining” notice while the other seven seasons do not have such a sign.
We have dived a bit through the first page of the SkyShowtime seriesfor the novelties and for those that they recommend, and this is what we have found:
No notice appears:
- ‘Fatal Attraction’
- ‘Rabbit Hole’
- ‘A town called Malice’
- ‘Grease The Rise of the Pink Ladies’
- ‘Lust’
- ‘1923’
- ‘Law’
- ‘Drift Partners in crime’
- ‘Tulsa King’
- ‘The Calling’
- ‘Star Trek Strange New Worlds’
- ‘Frasier’
- ‘Dexter’, from the second to the eighth
- ‘Halo’
- ‘Yellowstone’, season five
Disappearance notice appears:
- ‘Yellowstone’, from the first to the fourth
- ‘The Office’
- ‘Parks and recreations’
- ‘Law and Order Special Victims Unit’
- ‘Bates Motel’
- ‘House’
- ‘Elementary’
- ‘The Good Wife’
- ‘Penny Dreadful’
- Downton Abbey
- ‘Californication’
- ‘Battlestar Galactica’
- ‘Dexter’, season one
- ‘Mr Robot’

It’s funny because we can see a pattern. Series that could have rights problems are on the list that will disappear, but new series like ‘Halo’, ‘Tulsa King’, ‘Rabbit Hole’, ‘1923’ or ‘Star Trek Strange new worlds’ would stay on the service.
A unique case is that of ‘Yellowstone’, with the first four seasons leaving the service in less than a month, but the most recent, released this year, would stay on SkyShowtime. Star series like ‘The Office’ and other classics like ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘Battlestar Galactica’ or ‘Californication’ will disappear in a month.
Or at least, that is what the platform indicates at the momentand there are many more series and seasons that show that “28 days remaining” sign.
What have they told us from customer service?
As the situation is a bit strange, we have contacted SkySowtime customer service. We have asked specific questions about missing content (the ‘Fast and Furious’ saga) and about content that marks a 28-day availability, giving names such as the seasons that will disappear from ‘Yellowstone’, ‘Penny Dreadful’ or ‘Dexter’.
Besides, we have repeated the questions to two different agents to make sure and, in both cases, the response has been that they will not leave the platform after those 28 days. For a more specific question, They have confirmed that “it may be a technical failure when displaying the content removal banner”.
Taking the example of Fast and Furious’, agents have told us that the team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. If you want to do it yourself, here is the chat link.
What does SkyShowtime indicate about the disappearance of content?
That content disappears from a platform is something to which we are more than accustomed, although It seems that, in this case, it is a bug. In any case, we have gone to the SkyShowtime terms document to see what the platform’s policy is and we leave it below:
Point 2, section e:
“[…] As we continue to improve the viewing experience and update the available movies, entertainment and programming, we may regularly replace, modify or update the content at any time […]”

It is something that is also shown in the web version.

For example, if an urgent change is required for security reasons, or due to a request or demand or threat of action by a regulatory authority or other third party, or for any other reason beyond our reasonable control“.
In addition to the customer service chat, We have contacted SkyShowtime to have the official approach, but we have not received a response. As soon as we have more information, or if we see any changes to the platform, we will update.
