The new version of this generative AI is capable of creating photographic realism that fools the eye.
It is being a very busy week in the field of AIs. The big headlines have been taken GPT-4the new model of multimodal language Developed by OpenAI. Microsoft has been among the first to reap the benefits of the new version with its integration in Bingbut more and more programs and applications that use GPT-4 to improve the user experience. Everyone is trying out the new capabilities of GPT4, and in the midst of all this technological buzz, a new player has entered the game.
It is about midjourney, which is already a veteran in the field of AI imaging. This artificial intelligence has been the one that has surprised the most by the artistic composition that his images conveyand he has been one of the first to have put the debate on the table if the art created with AI is, essentially, art.
Midjourney has launched its fifth version (Midjourneyv5), and obviously social networks are already are filled with amazing user creations. In this new version, the qualitative leap of the AI is impressive, and it achieves generate photorealistic images who walk a fine line between what is real and what is not. Until now the application was capable of generating photographs with a huge graphic quality and some very convincing textures, but the new update has broken all the barriers.
Midjourney breaks new barriers: photography or AI-generated image?
In the following thread, Twitter user @nickfloats makes a comparison in which it feeds the same data to Midjourney v4 and Midjourney v5. The differences and leap in quality is abysmal.

The new images generated with Midjourney are much more accurate, as long as when you feed the AI specific enough information. It is capable of generating impressive lighting patterns and even replicating the grain or aesthetics that some analog camera models manage to capture. Even with the simplest descriptions, the new version is capable of generate tremendously complex imageswhich in many cases are confused with photographs.
If you want to try Midjourney, you can do it through his discord channel. On their website they have published a little tutorial explaining how to access the channel and start testing the capabilities of the AI.
