Ubuntu LTS versions are the most eagerly awaited among users of this Linux distro. These versions arrive every two years, and guarantee us extended support for at least 5 years, as well as other qualities, such as stability and excellent performance, to ensure that our computer, or server, works at full capacity. The most recent LTS arrived in April of this year, 24.04. And today, it has just received one of its most anticipated updates: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS.
We all know that new versions of operating systems are not as polished and perfect as they should be. We see this in every new version of Windows, in macOS updates and, of course, in Linux. With non-LTS versions it doesn’t matter too much, since they only have 9 months of support. But with LTS updates, which are designed for production and to last two or more years without updating, things are different.
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS It arrived with quite a few bugs and performance issues. And although it is true that Canonical was quick to fix most of these problems, users were not entirely convinced and preferred not to install this new version until the arrival of the first update. After 4 months, the desired version has finally arrived.
Changes in Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
This new version of Ubuntu is not one of the biggest updates, but it does marks a turning point for all those users who wanted to update and, due to the launch problems, could not risk it. This version includes by default all the changes, patches and corrections released since last April, when 24.04 saw the light of day. In this way, users You no longer have to upgrade to this version and install all updates released since April, but by jumping directly to 24.04.1 they will already have their system up to date, with all these patches.
This new version also updates all the programs and all the packages that are part of the distro itself. What is not updated is the core of the system, since the new Ubuntu 24.04.1 continues to use the same Kernel as the first version. It is rare to see an Ubuntu update change the core of the system, since that change is reserved only for new full versions.
