Tech News Desk – Reliance Jio has launched a new item-tracking gadget in India, known as JioTag. The new device could help people identify lost items and is a cheaper alternative to Apple’s AirTag. The geotag is capable of tracking objects using Bluetooth and its cost is largely affordable in the country. Let’s know about it.
Geotag is a budget option available in India. The price of this tag is Rs.749, but its MRP is Rs.2,499. Users can easily buy it through Jio’s website. Cash on Delivery is an option for the buyers, wherein they can choose to pay cash on delivery of the product. However, this option is available only for select pin codes. If we compare it with Airtag, then Apple’s Airtag is very expensive.
Its price is Rs 3,490, which is much higher than Geotag. Reliance Jio claims that their tracker JioTag can provide up to one year of battery backup. This tracker can be used to help locate lost items, and double tapping the tracker can ring a bell when the phone is on silent mode.
The company claims that when people forget their purse, keys or other belongings, JioTag alerts people and provides location for it. The tracker supports a range of up to 20 meters indoors and 50 meters outdoors. JioTag supports Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, so users can easily connect the tracker via their smartphone. This device helps people to take advantage of the high level Bluetooth technology.
What are the disadvantages of Airtag?
It is not compatible with Android and there is no way to alert the phone to the tag. In addition, it cannot be used to detect keys or other small items as the AirTag does not have a hole for items such as lanyards or key rings. It is also a bit expensive for many people.
