A few days ago, we talked about information that pointed to Lenovo working on a cheaper version of the Legion GO, its portable video game console, a version that will reduce the screen size from the 8.8 inches of the current version to 7 or maybe 8 inches. And we say maybe, because that was the information that appeared on the support page of the Legion GO in English (it was never shown in Spanish).
Lenovo’s Legion GO was released at the end of last year and, since its launch, it has become the most expensive portable console on the market, a console that uses the same processor as the highest version of ROG Ally, the Z1 Extreme and that incorporates a 8.8 inch screen.
In addition, unlike other similar models on the market, the controls can be removed, as can the Nintendo Switchoffering greater versatility with an experience similar to that offered by the Japanese firm’s console.
When it is about to complete a year, the logical thing was to expect a second generation, a second generation that the Asian firm could take advantage of to lower its price by reducing the size, however, finally the company has denied the rumors and does not plan to launch one. Lite version updated and adding a better cooling system as also pointed out on the support page for this console in English.
There will be no Legion GO Lite
In an attempt to clear up any doubts and officially confirm whether Lenovo was working on a cheaper portable console, Forbes contacted the press department to confirm or deny the information that appeared on the manufacturer’s website.
Information regarding this Lite version of Lenovo’s Legion GO is no longer available, and, unsurprisingly, Lenovo’s press department claims that information was incorrect.
He also said that they cannot talk about future releases and that they are working on offering new improvements for this one. He also took advantage of the same statement to thank the community of users of this console who discovered this information on his website.
It is possible that the person in charge of updating the information on the website made a mistake or wanted to get ahead of an announcement that the company plans to make in the coming weeks. It is also possible that this information was published earlier than it should have been due to an error.
Of course, if Lenovo is working on a new, cheaper version, it doesn’t want users to know about it and stop buying their portable console waiting for a new version. In a few days, the Gamescom an event where we are likely to see some major announcements about this console.
If not, Lenovo will most likely wait for the CES, which takes place every year in Las Vegas during the first week of January, one of the most important technology events of the year.
