Satya Nadella, CEO of MicrosoftHe did not want to leave a puppet with his head and he has been quite clear in his statements to Financial Time magazine.
“They Were All Dumb As Rocks”he said last month. “Whether it’s Cortana, Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri, all of these just don’t work. We had a product that was supposed to be the new interface for a lot of information that didn’t work,” Add.
As you already know, Alexa is still present, although it seems that she is having a hard time getting around the low sales. On the other hand, Siri and the Google Assistant continue to provide their services. The problem comes with Cortana. This novelty from Microsoft never took off to help users and finally disappeared from Android and iOS in 2021 being relegated to Microsoft’s Windows territory.
As is already known, Microsoft is now changing its strategy towards chatbot generative AI conversational tools like Bing Chat in the hopes that it will work the way Cortana didn’t. Now It only remains to be seen if Bing Chat will be a true revolution in interaction with technology and AI, or if it will continue as Cortana did.
Microsoft bets on artificial intelligence and AI-powered chatbots
The big point to keep in mind is that these comments by Satya Nadella come just as the artificial intelligence is having a big impact on companies like your own, Microsoft, or Google. The reality is that if you compare these aforementioned assistants with that of chatbots, they can do little about it.
It is worth mentioning that Satya Nadella praised voice assistants in the past even going so far as to say: “Bots are the new applications”. That prediction ultimately didn’t come true, especially if Cortana is mentioned.
Siri co-creator Adam Cheyer also told the Financial Times that the ability to ChatGPT to understand complex information makes existing voice assistants seem stupid, noting that “previous capabilities have been too cumbersome.”
For all this it is quite logical that these types of statements are made. Also, it seems that Microsoft is now interested in promoting artificial intelligence. After all, Microsoft has invested heavily in OpenAI and quickly capitalized on the success of ChatGPT by introducing its new Bing search engine. powered by ChatGPT and a host of other AI-powered chatbot products last month.
