Microsoft has just released a new beta of its SwiftKey virtual keyboard. This new version integrates Bing Image Creator, the image creation module powered by the Dall-E AI model.
You will soon be able to generate visuals using artificial intelligence, directly from the keyboard of your smartphone. Provided, of course, that you use SwiftKey, Microsoft’s virtual keyboard. The Redmond firm has just published a new beta of its keyboard in which it has just integrated Bing Image Creator, its generative AI module powered by Dall-E.
After emojis, gifs and stickers, AI-generated images
Spotted by our colleagues at AndroidPolice, this update to the SwiftKey beta is undoubtedly part of Microsoft’s strategy to restore interest in its virtual keyboard.
SwiftKey is getting Bing Image Creator integration, for better or worse. Out in beta now, it seems to be powered by DALL-E.

Because, remember, just a year ago, the Redmond firm made the decision, perhaps on a whim, to stop supporting SwiftKey on iOS. At the time, the application, abandoned by Microsoft, had not been updated for several months. Microsoft had nevertheless promised to continue following SwiftKey on Android, where the user base was undoubtedly larger. But a few weeks later, Microsoft suddenly turned around and indicated that it wanted to resurrect its keyboard on iOS. We can now imagine without much doubt that Microsoft, which had invested in Open AI, had seen all the potential that generative AI tools could offer its applications.
This was subsequently confirmed since the Redmond company updated its Swiftkey keyboard on iOS and Android to integrate Bing Chat, its conversational chatbot powered by ChatGPT. It is therefore not surprising today that Microsoft is considering integrating Bing Image Creator, its image generation tool, into SwiftKey. This decision is also rather smart on the part of Microsoft. Because if it is already possible to communicate and transmit a mood via emojis, stickers, or GIFs, the Redmond firm now offers a completely unique way to do so.
The generate image button is rolling out in the latest SwiftKey beta. It takes place in the keyboard toolbar, alongside the buttons for inserting emojis, stickers, and animated GIFs.
