Tech News Desk, If you use the Windows system, then you must have seen an application named Wordpad in your computer. It has been built into every version of the Windows OS for the past 30 years. But now the company is going to remove this app from the Windows operating system. For those who don’t know what this app works, it is actually a free basic word processor app. In this you can create articles or other projects. WordPad is an advanced version of Microsoft Word itself. Microsoft first released WordPad in 1995.
The company said in an official note that WordPad is no longer being updated and will be removed in a future release of Windows. Instead of this app, the company is advising users to use Microsoft Word for rich text files like .doc and .rtf and Windows Notepad for normal text files like .txt.
Let us tell you, some time back Microsoft has added several new capabilities to its free-tier Notepad, including tab auto-save and auto-restore. Apart from this, you can also open multiple tabs at once. However, compared to WordPad, Notepad does not support more accessible documents and here you can create only text documents. If you want to work on large files, then you should take the help of Microsoft Word.
Last time the company gave this big update in Wordpad
The last time the company gave a major update to the WordPad application was in Windows OS 7. Then the company gave a futuristic look by changing the old UI to the Ribbon UI. The company is currently working on a new OS for Windows computers. If reports are to be believed, the company may launch Windows 12 in 2024.
