Since Microsoft have announced the launch of a version of skype specially designed for Mac computers with M1 and M2 processors. As reported by the company, this version will offer a much higher connection speed and lower power consumption. Apparently, it will be 3 times faster than the original version.
The information provided through the Blog of Skype reveals that Mac users have the opportunity to request a early access to the new version of the application and that its general availability will arrive very soon.

The new version of Skype is specially designed for M1 and M2 processors and promises performance up to 3 times faster than the current version for Mac computers with Intel processors.
It is unknown when the revamped version of the Skype for Mac app will be available. Microsoft has not announced a release date. But, as we mentioned before, it is possible to download an early version of the application through the program Skype Insider from Microsoft to test all the new features before anyone else.
If you want to check if your Skype application offers compatibility with the M1 or M2 chips, click on its icon with the right mouse button and select “Get information”, if it is listed as **Application (Universal) you are running the version optimized for Apple Silicon processors.
