Twitter News Desk !!! Tech billionaire Elon Musk has taken over Twitter, but Indian-origin lawyer Vijaya Gadde’s account of censoring specific stories related to the laptop of Hunter, son of US President Joe Biden, in the wake of the Capitol Hill violence earlier this year has been suspended. Working at Twitter since 2011, Vijaya has been the chief executive officer overseeing the microblogging platform’s trust and security, legal and public policy functions. She was also involved in the decisions to remove former US President Donald Trump and ban the broadcast of political advertising on the platform. Musk slammed the lawyer for suspending the account of the New York Post on Twitter. The New York Post had a special article about Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 US presidential elections. The article has since been verified by multiple outlets. These outlets had initially dismissed the report as misinformation. Musk said in a tweet, suspending the Twitter account of a major news organization for publishing a true story was clearly incredibly unfair.
When Musk took over Twitter in a $44 billion deal, Gadde reportedly raised concerns over the platform’s future by meeting with his teams in response to a Politico report shared by podcast host Sagar NJT. Was. NJT tweeted, “Twitter’s top censorship advocate Vijaya Gadde, who world famous Joe Rogan’s podcast and censored the Hunter Biden laptop story, is deeply upset about the acquisition of Elon Musk.”
Musk had long been advocating for free expression on the platform, sparking apprehension for many, as he feared the site would be abandoned without rules. Musk wrote on Twitter, “The overwhelming antibody response from those who fear free expression says it all.”
“By free expression, I simply mean that which conforms to the law. I am against censorship which goes far beyond the law. If people want less free expression, they ask the government to pass legislation to that effect. Because going beyond the law would be against the will of the people.
