MediaTek has new processors for the somewhat more modest high-end: the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 and the Dimensity 8050. The first of them debuted a few days ago on the Moto Edge 40 and the second does the same today, first on the Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G.
We will see the Dimensity 8020 and 8050 within conventional high-end mobiles or premium mid-range, since the most powerful MediaTek processors are still the 9000 and 4 nm series. These last two have a 6 nanometer construction.
This is the new MediaTek Dimensity
MediaTek continues to expand its catalog, filling practically all the ranges, in some cases twice. For the most powerful mid-range or the high-end with a more adjusted pricehas just launched the new Dimensity 8020 and Dimensity 8050, both with 6 nanometer construction.
The Dimensity 8020 distributes its cores in four Cortex-A78 at up to 2.6 GHz and another four at 2 GHzwhile the Dimensity 8050 divides them into three clusters: a Cortex-A78 at 3 GHz, another three Cortex-A78 at 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 at 2 GHz. In both cases, accompanied by a Mali-G77 GPU .
Artificial intelligence is carried out by the MediaTek APU 570 and both processors share support for up to 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storagein addition to 5G Multi-Mode connectivity, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Where we find differences is in the support of screens, since the Dimensity 8020 supports up to Full HD + resolution at 144 Hz, but the 8050 reaches 168 Hz. There are also differences in cameras: the Dimensity 8020 supports up to 108 MP while the 8050 can up to 200 MP.
