A few days ago, we learned that António Coimbra, President of Vodafone Spain since January 2019, will not renew his mandate. His position will be assumed by the current CEO, Mário Vaz, as of October 1. Today, the company announced more organizational changes in its Executive Committee.
Ignacio Román will be the new director of the consumption unit for private customers replacing Hisham Hendi. For his part, Federico Colom, recently appointed Director of Strategy and Transformation, will leave Vodafone immediately.
Objective: return to profitability
While its strategic review process by the Group continues, Vodafone Spain continues to move pieces in its Executive Committee. The objective, they say, is to “maintain the ambition to transform its consumer business and accelerate the strategy of return to growth and profitability“.
Ignacio Román, new director of the consumer business unit of Vodafone Spain
The last of these changes has been the appointment of Ignacio Román as the new director of the consumption unit for private clientss dated October 1. Román will replace Hisham Hendi, who will take on new roles within Vodafone when the transition is completed at the end of October.
Ignacio Román has more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and technology sector. At Vodafone Spain, he served as marketing director between 2005 and 2008, as director of the terminal business unit between 2008 and 2011, and as director of consumer sales between 2010 and 2014.
Apart from this appointment, Federico Colom, recently appointed Director of Strategy and Transformation, has decided leave the company immediately “for strictly personal reasons.” The areas that were part of his team (Strategy, Wholesale and Agreements with Third Parties, and Corporate Communication) will report directly to the CEO.
