Very good alternative to the Mi Box S, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is still much more efficient than its competitor and offers several very practical compatibilities. It is even currently cheaper than that of Xiaomi thanks to Boulanger who offers it at 49 euros instead of 99 euros.
It is now possible to transform your television or PC screen into a connected TV at a lower cost thanks to several inexpensive TV box references. This is for example the case of the Xiaomi Mi Box S or its more efficient competitor, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 which interests us here. Compact and equipped with a multitude of compatibilities, this multimedia box under Android TV becomes even more interesting since it is currently offered at half price.
The strengths of the Nokia Streaming Box 8000
- A compact box
- 4K, HDR10, Google Assistant and Chromecast compatibility
- A smooth experience on Android TV
Launched at 99 euros, but displayed at the barred price of 79 euros, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 multimedia box is now displayed at only 49 euros at Boulanger.
A compact box with full connectivity
The first thing that jumps out when looking at the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is its discretion. We are indeed entitled to a compact matte black square case, whose dimensions of 11.2 x 11.2 x 2.4 cm allow it to blend into the decor, which is rather appreciable. If the size of its competitor Xiaomi Mi Box S is even smaller, we can still enjoy, with Nokia’s solution, a box that is quickly forgotten under a television.
On this box, there is also a rather complete connection, with an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, an AV OUT port, an optical port, a USB-C port, and, on the side, a USB-A 3.0 port. For Internet connection, Wi-Fi compatibility (dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz) is available. Bluetooth 4.2 is also there to connect the box to various wireless devices.
Good performance
In terms of performance, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 does much better than the Xiaomi Mi Box S thanks to its Amlogic S905X3 chip coupled with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM. This processor manages to offer great power and promises a very fluid user experience in the interface menus. Thanks to the box, you can also view content up to 4K, while enjoying compatibility with HDR10. On the other hand, we unfortunately cannot rely on Dolby Vision. The Nokia Streaming Box 8000 makes up for it thanks to its ability to run several 3D games, but also to its Netflix certification, thanks to which you are entitled to the highest possible definition on the streaming platform.
As for its operating system, the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is equipped with Android TV. All the flagship apps from the Play Store are therefore available, as is the Chromecast function, which allows you to stream content from a smartphone or tablet to the TV. Google Assistant is also there, of course, and can be summoned using the remote control that accompanies the multimedia box.
