Tech News Desk – Popular video sharing platform Tiktok is facing big challenges these days. App TikTok, owned by Beijing-based company ByteDance, has also been banned in the UK. The British government has banned China’s video app TikTok from government equipment with immediate effect. Cabinet Office Minister Oliver Dowden made the announcement in Parliament on Thursday. In Britain, this ban has been imposed in view of security on the lines of America, Canada, Belgium, India and European Union. However, Tiktok has denied allegations of transferring any data related to it to the Chinese government.

Tiktok is banned in these countries
The US, Canada, Belgium and the European Commission have already banned the app. Let us tell you that Tiktok, owned by ByteDance, has more than 100 million users only in the US. Please tell that this is the first time Tiktok is being attacked in this way. Republican Donald Trump tried to ban Tiktok in 2020, but the court blocked it.

Risk of misuse of government data and information
China has accused the US of spreading propaganda regarding Tiktok. In Parliament, Dowden told MPs on Thursday that there was a risk of misuse of government data and information because of this app. It is our duty to protect sensitive information related to the security of the country. So today we are restricting this app to official devices. The use of other data extraction apps will also be reviewed.

Cyber security experts gave advice
He said that our cyber security experts had given the prudent advice of banning the TikTok app on government equipment. The Cabinet Office ministry said government equipment contains sensitive data. The Tiktok app first asks for data access permission on the device and then collects it, the possibility of transfer of this data to anyone cannot be ruled out.
