You never know when a great idea will come along, just check out this story about one of the iPhone’s best features
Sometimes ideas come when you least expect them, it is said that Steve Jobs created the iPhone because he wanted a device to read his emails in the bathroom. And this is also the case with One of the most amazing features Apple has ever created and has been present in iOS since 2009.
The amazing thing about this feature, besides how it works, is that Apple designed it because An intern dropped his iPhone on the couch and couldn’t find itFrom that idea, Find My iPhone was born, which was presented at WWDC in 2009 and has evolved to create an exclusive device for it, the AirTag.
And we know this thanks to an interview the youtuber SuperSaf has performed on Eddy Cuecurrently senior vice president of Apple Services who has been with Apple since 1989.
The iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch are like an extension, I take notes all the time because I have ideas all the time on how to do something or how to make something better or simpler. One of my favorite things was developed by an intern, it was the Find My iPhone feature, and look where it got us: Find My Friends, now AirTags… and now you can find your suitcase somewhere at the airport.
It all started with the idea of someone losing their iPhone on the couch and because this is a great example, it didn’t take a genius to come up with a great feature but, well, nobody thought of that before we did it. So somebody had to think of that and then you have to develop it and do it in an optimal and well thought out way, it’s like, if you have your phone on silent mode, you better have that temporarily override it so you can find it, all those things that happen and so it’s really hard work but it’s worth it.
You never know when a good idea will come to you.
It seems incredible that A feature as important as Find My iPhone was born from something as everyday as losing your iPhone on the couchIt’s clear that the idea has developed much further, to the point where you can find your iPhone even if it’s turned off from miles away, but it’s clear that you never know when a good idea will come to you.
Find My iPhone born in 2009 as part of iPhone OS 3The concept was later expanded into a new app, Find My Friends, which launched with iOS 5 in 2011. And it’s a feature that has continued to evolve and add improvements, such as the option to remotely lock the iPhone, send alerts, precision search, or the ability to find objects thanks to AirTags and the Find My Network.
Eddy Cue is clear about it, Write down any idea, no matter how small. to see if it can be included in Apple devices or improve some existing functions, and it is an excellent way of working.
