Samsung is preparing to release a new major update for its mobile devices. It is One UI 7, based on Android 15, which will arrive as the successor to One UI 6 which, in its different versions (such as One UI 6.1) was full of changes and new features, especially regarding artificial intelligence.
We still don’t know many details about One UI 7. We do know that it will include interface changes and new icons. It will also include a new way to protect our most private applications, and improvements to animations. However, although One UI is a customization layer that is full of its own and very useful functions, the iPhone has some tools and features that are also I would like to have on my Samsung Galaxy. These are the most important ones.
Absolute customization for the control center
Samsung completely renewed the Samsung Galaxy control center with the arrival of One UI 6, grouping and reorganizing the different settings options so that their use is more intuitive and with a more user-friendly interface. However, there is something that iPhones have in their control center that I would like to be able to use on my Samsung.
I’m referring to the possibility of completely customizing the control center. Apple renewed the quick settings menu of its smartphones with the new iOS 18, which I have been able to test and which includes some important changes to the iPhone interface. One of its new features is the possibility of Resize and rearrange the options in the control center as you wish.
This allows you to create a quick settings screen that is truly your own and that adapts to your specific needs: if you use a setting a lot, I can transform it into a larger icon to give it more prominenceor I can even group the settings icons that I consider related by theme. The One UI control center is fine, but I would like to see these customization options added.
Multiple themed lock screens
The iPhone allows you to set up multiple lock screens. Thanks to this feature, users can switch between several options depending on the theme and their needs, adding different shortcuts to the lock screen and different modes.
This allows us, for example, create a lock screen for when we are during work hours and another for the weekendswith different settings for notifications and, of course, a different wallpaper. In fact, this option also allows you to set different wallpapers and colors for the home screen. Without a doubt, a very useful feature that I would like to use on my Samsung mobile, especially if they add support for more widgets on the lock screen.
The new ‘anti-dizziness’ mode of the iPhone
Many people suffer from nausea and dizziness when using a mobile phone while driving or a bus. This is something that can be very annoying, as sometimes this feeling of dizziness can last for several minutes, even after you stop using your mobile phone.
This problem occurs because our eyes are fixed on a small, static point, while our body senses the movement of the vehicle. This difference can cause the sensation of dizziness, and Apple has implemented a solution in iOS 18: add black dots on the screen that move with the carwhich “tricks” our brain and prevents us from feeling dizzy. I have tried it and it does work, at least to a certain extent, so I would love to have this feature on my Samsung Galaxy so I can use my phone more comfortably while travelling by car.
Artificial intelligence, but for notifications
Last but not least, one iOS 18 feature that I think can be very useful is the AI-based notification summary (in the case of the iPhone, in Apple Intelligence). This feature allows AI to summarize the notifications we have received in an application over a period of time. If you are one of those who silence all notifications on your phone during your work or study day, this feature could be as useful to you as it is to me, so I would like to see Samsung add it to Galaxy AI in One UI 7.
The new One UI update still has no availability date, but it is estimated to arrive during the last quarter of the year.
