Apple has reportedly decided not to renew its initial multi-year agreement with Oprah Winfrey, although the presenter may continue to work with the TV+ platform on a case-by-case basis. The American star brought three programs to Apple, including the famous “The Oprah Conversation” interviews with personalities from all walks of life.
End of an Era on Apple TV+
Oprah Winfrey was one of the first big stars to sign a deal with Apple TV+, and was one of the highlights when Apple TV+ launched in November 2019. She said at the time that she was bringing his book club to the streaming service and that working with Apple meant being “in a billion pockets.” But according to the Puck site, the contract will not be renewed. Apple has reportedly confirmed the end of the deal, but neither the company nor representatives for Winfrey have commented.
The deal with Apple TV+ was non-exclusive, meaning Winfrey could bring her high-profile interviews of Adele and royalty to CBS and more.
For Apple, Winfrey produced her book club, “The Oprah Conversation” discussion series and her mental health special “The Me You Can’t See” made with Prince Harry.
