The lock screen isn’t just where widgets live, it’s also where you enter your passcode. Except that with modern iPhones, you rarely see it, mostly overshadowed by Face ID/Touch ID authentication. But when you restart your iPhone or fail multiple times, you have to type in the code. And that’s where the tweak comes in PassText comes into play.
Tweak preview PassText
Those who want to customize the passcode entry on the lock screen already know about tweaks like Doodle. But PassText isn’t here to offer another solution, just to make it more personal. This tweak, developed by Hitori, lets you replace the numbers on the passcode entry keyboard with words or Emojis of your choice, as shown in the example screenshot below.
Once installed, PassText adds a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app, where users can configure the tweak by changing the ten keys one by one.
Given that PassText only changes the text content of each button on the passcode keypad, it doesn’t change the way Apple intended it to work. It only changes its appearance. The locations of the passcode keys remain the same, although you can no longer see what numbers you’re typing. If you’re tired of seeing 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., give it a try. It’s also a good way to increase the security of your iPhone. Who wouldn’t be confused by trying to log into your iPhone when they see emojis, for example?
Those who are interested in the new jailbreak tweak PassText can download it for free from the Havoc repository via their favorite package manager app (Cydia, Sileo, Zebra, Installer). The tweak is compatible with jailbroken iOS 14, iOS 15, iOS 16, and iOS 17 devices.
