It takes the formula of games like Friday the 13th and puts players in the shoes of a group of soldiers or a Predator, giving you the chance to wield the incredibly advanced alien warrior’s advanced weaponry.
Sadly, the game hasn’t had a huge player base supporting it the most, likely due to the mixed response to the title.
Right now, there are only 190 players playing Predator: Hunting Grounds on Steam with an all-time high of 388 players, which is exceptionally low for any game.
However, developer Illfonic continues to support the game and has announced that it will be releasing new DLC to celebrate the release of Prey, a Predator prequel that released on Hulu earlier this month.Players will be able to obtain the Predator “Bone Mask” featured in the film, which aligns with the overall look and themes of the film, moving away from the advanced technology of the sequels to something a bit more primitive and grounded.
More content is still missing for Predator
Sadly, it doesn’t look like players can get the Predator shield or any of the other gadgets that appear in Prey, but it’s still a nice touch. So far Illfonic has not confirmed whether it will be a paid or free item.
There is no firm release date, but it is expected to arrive sometime later in August.
Prey has been a huge success so far, with many suggesting that it’s one of the best Predator movies to date, if not the best.
Of course, the bar was relatively low given that all sequels to the original film are mixed media. 20th Century Fox and Hulu have yet to announce a sequel, but it seems likely that we’ll get more Predator movies following the success of this movie.
