The end of The Rings of Power, the controversial Prime Video series, finally managed to develop its narrative lines perfectly and brilliantly. Also, reveal the great secrets of the plot in an elegant, well-constructed way and with a sophisticated narrative. That included the identity of the enigmatic Dark Lord, Sauron, hidden under the face of one of the series’ main characters..
Ultimately, Halbrand, the protagonist with a mysterious secret that Galadriel stumbled upon in the midst of the Encircling Sea, ended up being the corrupted maia. A predictable twist – the series had left enough clues about the possibility -, but that the script was able to show with ingenious patience. As hinted, the mysterious man without a past, survivor of a debacle he never told and expert in forging, was the Dark Lord.
Everything has happened after Galadriel noticed a more than suspicious behavior in Halbrand, whom he took to elven domains in search of his cure. Concerned, the Elf Lady searched the records about the lineage of the kings of the south. Only to discover that the last ruler died a thousand years ago and left no offspring. “I never lied to you,” Halbrand then says, making no effort to hide the revelation. “I always told the truth about myself.” Which, as twisted as it sounds, is true. This includes, of course, taking the banner and even the form of a dead man to manipulate everyone around him to his advantage.
The Rings of Power is the new phenomenon that everyone is talking about and that you can not miss
the dark lord in The Rings of Power
The Rings of Power he got Halbrand’s story to match what Tolkien wrote about what happened to Sauron during the Second Age. In other words, that Sauron fought alongside Morgoth and suffered defeat from him. “I have no king,” Halbrand had said on different occasions with bitterness, in clear reference to a greater event. Also, he had demonstrated his skills in transformation and disguise. And if that wasn’t enough, it seems that he managed to carry out the carefully laid plan that gave birth to Mordor.

The difference was that the plot changed his name from Annatar (“giver of gifts” in Quenya) to a behavior that just expressed the meaning of the word. The Dark Lord, under the guise of the unknown, was responsible for the advanced forging and blacksmithing skills required to forge the Three Rings..
Much more, he found a way to fuse the Mithril (which did not accept less noble metals in alloy) with the gold of Valinor from Galadriel’s dagger. Which in the end was the answer to the riddle that was posed to the elven shaper Celebrimbor at the time of creating the magical artifacts.
The Rings of Power managed to originate a whole situation that allowed, in a natural way, to explain the presence of Sauron and his influence in Eregion. Halbrand lent his knowledge and further found how to influence every creature in the elven realm he needed to achieve his goal. Following the instructions of the corrupted maia, the first three rings of the future twenty that the story should cover are part of the script.
The future that is yet to come
Narya, Nenya and Vilya, the three magical artifacts known to Tolkien fans, could be seen in one of the final scenes of the season. Forged through magic, skill, and pain (Galadriel’s dagger sacrifice), they were depicted much like Tolkian descriptions. In the future, the items will be distributed among Gil-galad, Elrond, and Galadriel.
Although there is still no indication of how Sauron will manage to create the rest of the rings and bind them to the One, it is clear that his presence in Mordor speaks to his intentions. A topic that the Prime Video series will undoubtedly explore in depth in the next season.
