The iPhone 14 Pro is positioned as one of the best smartphones of the year with many great features, and others that are not so great.

The iPhone 14 Pro represents everything Apple wants to offerwith a design change with the Dynamic Island, with a 48-megapixel main camera that few will be able to match and with a processor that still has an almost unattainable advantage.

Our fellow Urban Techno They have already been able to test the iPhone 14 Pro for a while and they leave us with their complete analysis of the device, you can see the video below.
iPhone 14 Pro Design
In terms of design we find few surprises. We are facing an iPhone that continues with Apple’s design line of the latest models and that, above all, it feels very premium. The materials used and the build quality are well above average, something that always stands out in the iPhone.
It is a nice device. The black model is very elegant.
We keep the chassis stainless steel in bright finish and the back in matte glass, where the huge rear camera module stands out. We have the same button layout and SIM card tray, something that has already disappeared in the United States and that is likely to disappear with the iPhone 15 in other markets as well.
As to bad designour colleagues from Urban Tecno highlight the high weightcommon in Apple Pro models due to the use of rust-proof steel instead of aluminum, and the straight edges. They are not as comfortable as rounded ones when using the device.
iPhone 14 Pro screen
One of the best screens of the year, if not the best. We came from a great panel in the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro improve in two fundamental aspects: the refresh ratewhich can now go down to a single Hz, keeping the 120 Hz maximum, and the brightwhich is capable of reaching 2,000 nits outdoors.
Dynamic Island
The differential point of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, a new element that replaces the notch. Our colleagues at Urban Tecno did not like Apple’s new invention at all, for various reasons.
On the one hand, it occupies more than the notch. Really it does not occupy more, but it is located a little lower on the screen to leave some space above. And this makes it seem like you’re more in the middle when playing a game or watching a full-screen video.
However, what yes they liked it are all the software implementations and functions that it includes. Although it is true that it is a section that can be improved with software updates.
screen always on
The always-on display takes advantage of the LTPO OLED panel with a frequency of only 1 Hz to Always show the iOS 16 lock screen in a dim way. iPhone 14 Pro does not simply show the time, even the wallpaper appears with Always-On mode on at minimum brightness.
If you like the effect, great, it must be said that when you carry the iPhone in a pocket or a bag the screen turns off, however it has a big but: excessive battery consumption. We are talking about a consumption that can be between 10 and 15% throughout the day just for having the screen always on.
I have deactivated it after three days. It doesn’t quite convince me as a concept. The problem with this Always-On is that by always maintaining a minimum brightness, it consumes more battery than you would like. At the level of effects and animations, it is very well integrated, but it consumes much more battery. Around an hour or an hour and a half of use less when having it activated.
Performance: sustained evolution
Apple has reached a level in terms of chips where it is very difficult to overcome. Is the A16 Bionic chip better than the A15 Bionic? Yes, the numbers say so. Nevertheless this does not become something real on a day-to-day basis. The system continues to run just as smooth and the games continue to run very well, without any slowdowns.
It is the best processor on the market. The performance is excellent, the optimization is very well achieved. Apple always manages to work better its devices.
Battery: fairer than it should
the battery of the iPhone 14 Pro offers a very similar duration to that of the 13 Pro. Therefore, in normal use of the device, you will get to the end of the day without needing to charge it. The main problem with the battery comes when you activate the always-on display.
In this case, with Always-On activated, you will have to go through the charger before the end of the day if you are a very demanding user. It’s not a monster in terms of battery, that’s what the iPhone 14 Pro Max is for, but it’s fine as long as we disable this feature.
The battery in a day of normal use, with Always-On activated, is correct. You will arrive at the end of the day very fair. If you are a demanding user, it is possible that at some point you will have to charge the device.
The worst of the iPhone 14 Pro: Lightning and fast charging
Manzana keeps the Lightning connector on the iPhone 14 Pro for another year, and we have already seen that this can be a problem when transferring large files to a computer, as the technology is limited to USB 2.0. Apple uses USB-C on iPads and Macs, so the logical step would be to see it on iPhone as well, but not yet.
Fast charging remains constant for another year, charging half the battery in 30 minutes. It is still a slow speed considering that there are devices that fully charge their battery in that time.
Cameras: Probably the best on the market
The main camera of the iPhone 14 Pro takes all the spotlight this year, rising in resolution for the first time in many years and reaching 48 megapixels. We are facing one of the best cameras on the market, this is its configuration:
- 48 Mpx main camera with Quad Pixel sensor: 24mm – 48mm (x2 telephoto), ƒ/1.78 aperture, 1.22µm Single Pixel, 2.44µm Quad Pixel.
- telephoto: 77mm, 3x Optical Zoom, ƒ/2.8 Aperture, 6 Element Lens.
- ultra wide angle camera: 13mm, 120° field of view, ƒ/2.2 aperture, 6-element lens.
We have seen a jump. Very good photos in any type of situation, I would even venture to say that in many cases they are the best photos on the market.
The key point of the main camera of the iPhone 14 are the 48 megapixel ProRAW photos. It’s not a format for all users and it takes a bit of time editing photos, but the level of detail is incredible with the iPhone 14 Pro’s main sensor.
On the other hand, the wide angle has improved in certain aspects, but it is still behind other options of the market, it is a point to improve for future versions. In general, it is a wide angle more than solvent with better level of detail and dynamic range.
The 3x zoom offers a very good level of detail, improving on previous generations. Follow suffering especially in low light conditions, but this is partially solved with the night mode. Compared to other options it is up there with the best.
There is no rival. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the two best smartphones for video recording.
As for the video, we are before the best smartphone on the market. Very good detail and very good dynamic range with all cameras. The super-stabilized Action Mode stands out, there is no smartphone on the market that records with this smoothness stabilizing in 2.8K resolution.
Here are some examples of photos taken with the iPhone 14 Pro:
