Very hectic moment within Vodafone Spain with major changes. If a few days ago the new president was announced after the renewal of the mandate of António CoimbraNow it’s time to continue learning about the movements of this revolution in the direction of the operator in our country. Specifically, organizational changes have been announced in its Executive Committee with a new director of the consumer business unit.
António Coimbra, who was CEO of Vodafone Spain from September 2012 to October 2020 and president of the company since January 2018, makes way for Mario Vaz, CEO of Vodafone Spain, as the new president as of October 1 of this year. However, they are not the only changes that we will have in the short term in the red operator.
Ignacio Román, new director of the consumer unit
Vodafone Spain has announced changes to its Executive Committee with the aim of “maintaining the ambition to transform its consumer business and accelerate the strategy to return to growth and profitability.” To this end, they have agreed to appoint Ignacio Roman as new director of the consumer unit for private clients. He will take office on October 1 and will replace Hisham Hendi. The latter will support Román in the transition and will then assume new roles within the company.
Ignacio Román has more than 30 years of experience in the technology and telecommunications sector. Until now, he has held the positions of commercial vice president of Cable & Wireless Panama (2022-2023) and vice president for Central and South America of Liberty Latin America (2021-2022), without forgetting that he was CEO of Avantel (Colombia), between 2017-2020, and CEO at Digicel (El Salvador), between 2015 and 2017.
He began his professional career in banking and consultingbeing marketing director of Vodafone Spain between 2005 and 2008. He then began managing LG’s global account from Vodafone until he was appointed director of the terminal business unit for Vodafone Spain and Vodafone Portugal between 2008 and 2011, and director of consumer sales of Vodafone Spain between 2010 and 2014.
Another important change in Vodafone’s organizational structure is found in the decision to Federico Colom, recently appointed Director of Strategy and Transformation, to leave the company immediately for strictly personal reasons. The areas that he managed such as Strategy, Wholesale and Agreements with Third Parties, and Corporate Communication will report directly to CEO Mário Vaz.
Precisely, vaz He stated that “with the incorporation of Ignacio Román, we seek to continue promoting competitiveness and accelerate the implementation of the company’s future growth plans.” “Furthermore, I would like to thank Hisham for his dedication and effort during his two-year assignment, recognizing his focus on improving the customer experience, restructuring the commercial offering and launching new products and services. Hisham has helped us lay the foundations for this new cycle and I wish him the best in his new stage.”
