at your event unpacked This Wednesday, Samsung not only presented its new folding phones Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, along with the renewed generation of Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatches. There was also a space dedicated to audio with the introduction of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro.
The new wireless headphones with active noise cancellation developed by Samsung bring with them very interesting news. From a refined design that allows them to be 15% smaller than the original Buds Pro, to support for 24-bit high-fidelity audio, just to name a few.
The arrival of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro represents an expected renewal, taking into account that the previous generation was presented in January 2021. That so much time has passed between the launch of one and the other, surely allows us to appreciate more clearly the improvements promised by this new version.
Of course, active noise cancellation is the strongest element of these Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Samsung ensures that the performance of the technology 40% improved compared to Galaxy Buds Pro, thanks to the use of three microphones with a high signal-to-noise ratio. Two of them are located on the outside of the wireless headphones, and the rest on the inside. According to the South Koreans, this combination allows even the smallest noises to be eliminated.
The Galaxy Buds2 Pro also incorporate Ambient Sound – similar to the transparency mode of the AirPods Pro – and a voice detection system. The latter is responsible for recognizing the user’s voice and automatically reducing the volume of the music or content that is being listened to, in order to be able to converse with other people without having to remove the headphones.
Following what has already been seen in the first generation Buds Pro, the new Samsung headphones also incorporate the function Audio 360. However, this feature is limited to Galaxy family phones or tablets running One UI 3.1 or newer.
High quality audio in the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro
If we look a little beyond active noise cancellation, the other great novelty of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro is support for 24-bit high-fidelity audio sound. This represents an interesting leap compared to the original Buds Pro, which offered 16-bit Hi-Fi audio, as the new wireless earbuds are capable of handling up to 256 times more sound data.
However, there are some “buts” to this issue. First of all, 24-bit Hi-Fi audio support will be available only on Galaxy devices with One UI 4.0 or higher. Secondly, it will also be tied to the fact that the application used to play the sound also supports it.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro take advantage of the new SSC Hi-Fi, or Samsung Seamless Codec, and also support the SBC and AAC codecs.
The usual integration with the Galaxy ecosystem
How could it be otherwise, Samsung has provided the Galaxy Buds2 Pro with features that highlight the usual integration with the rest of the Galaxy ecosystem. This is clearly seen in the function auto-switchwhich allows you to connect the headphones between different products in its catalogue.
So, for example, if you are watching a movie on your tablet and you receive a call on your mobile, the headphones will switch devices automatically. The same thing happens if you have a TV from the Korean brand, since the technology is compatible with up to 18 of its models.
And if you lose them, you don’t have to worry too much either. Thanks to technology SmartThings Findit is possible to find the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro quickly, even if they are not inside the case.
The autonomy of the wireless headphones reaches up to 8 hours with noise cancellation deactivated, extending up to 29 hours with the charging case. In the case of keeping ANC activated, the battery life is reduced to 5 and 18 hours, respectively.

The new Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro will hit the market with IPX7 water resistance certification and will be available in three colors: graphite (black), White (White and BoraPurple (purple).
