One UI 6.0 will soon be coming to high-end Samsung smartphones. The company has been spotted testing the new version of the overlay internally, but a public release is expected to arrive soon.
According to Twitter user Tarun Vats, Samsung has started testing its One UI 6.0 update based on Android 14, with the first test build appearing on Samsung’s servers. These tests are for the moment only internal, that is to say thatno member of the community has access to the new update yetbut it does indicate that Samsung is already actively working on the update and it could arrive by the end of 2023.
The test version would be for the Galaxy S23 Ultra and would carry the version number S918BXXU1BWE2. Samsung is also testing its brand new overlay One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 on Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4and the Galaxy S22 series should appear soon.

OneUI 6.0 could be released sooner than expected
The Korean giant is said to be ahead of its usual schedule, as Vats suggests it started internal testing of the next major Android operating system release “two months” in advance. As a reminder, Samsung had started its internal tests of One UI 5.0 on the Galaxy S22 series at the beginning of July 2022.
This suggests that Samsung could begin public beta testing fairly soon, and that the stable channel would receive the update by the end of the year. If so, with the exception of the Pixel 8s which will arrive in the fall, Samsung phones are said to be among the first devices to receive the update.
While it’s still too early to tell what the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update will bring, it’s likely that Samsung will focus on improving app handling. Indeed, Samsung and Google yesterday announced a partnership aimed at solving the problem of applications sleeping, which often leads to missed notifications. Users can expect a smoother experience and better control over apps running in the background.
