There are a lot of methods with which to save storage with the applications on our Xiaomi mobile. Can clear your cache, clear app data or even completely uninstall the app.
In March of this year, Google announced that the Play Store will have one more tool to save space on our device. It’s all about application archiving, and we’ve already seen how it works.
Save space yes, but without deleting applications
This new method created by Google will allow us manage the storage used by our appsand instead of having to delete them, they will remain archived in the Play Store, occupying up to 60% less space on our mobile, according to Google.
The data of those applications they will continue to exist in our Xiaomibut the storage that the application itself occupies will no longer bother us, and we will be able to have access to it at any time by re-downloading it, since we will continue to see it on the MIUI home screen. A developer has shown how it works:
- In the Google Play Store, we will ‘Manage apps and device’
- When selecting an application, we will have two options: uninstall or archive
- If we choose to uninstall, we will totally erase the application and all its dataas we have always been doing
- If we select archive, the APK file will be superseded by an archived version that we can recover from there or from the home screen
Thanks to the new storage saving techniques that Google is implementing, we can have more space on our Xiaomi mobile without the need to delete apps, videos or having to use an external hard drive or a microSD card.
Application archiving is still in betaand although we do not know if it will be compatible with all apps, Google has already warned that won’t be available until before the end of the year.
