When someone talks about electric cars, the first thing that comes to mind is how expensive they are. Despite the advances and the fact that they have really improved their capabilities and lowered prices, it is a reality that for the average consumer, they are still somewhat expensive. There are brands that are trying to reverse that and the most recent is SEV, who already present their SEV E-WAN in Mexico.
What is it and where does it come from?
SEV is a brand belonging to Solarever, one of the largest manufacturers of solar panels in Mexico. This is how they join electric mobility in a more direct way by bringing to Mexico the Letin Mengo, an electric urban hatchback of Chinese origin, which they have baptized as SEV E-WAN.
autonomy and power
The SEV E-WAN will be offered in two versions and with two powertrain options. In the first instance, the SEV E-WAN Lite – the access variant – will carry a single electric motor that will produce 33 hp (25 kW) and 77 lb-ft of torque that will move only the rear axle. In this version, its battery will be 17.2 kWh, which will allow a range of approximately 200 km.
The top-of-the-range version will be called the Bold and will feature a 46-hp (35-kW) engine and 92 lb-ft of torque that will go directly to the front axle. In this case, the battery grows to 29.4 kWh, promising up to 335 km of autonomy per charge. In both cases, its maximum speed is limited to 100 km/h, so it will be an entirely urban model.
Its battery system accepts fast charging, so it can be fully charged in 45 minutes. If done on a normal level 1 home charger, it can take up to 13 hours.
Its equipment is simple, there is a 9″ touch screen for the infotainment system, digital instrument panel, air conditioning and basic electrical equipment. In terms of safety, it will only carry the legal minimum, that is: 2 airbags, ABS brakes , seat belts and hill climb assistant. The great absentee is the electronic stability control.
a real urban
Its measurements are really contained, since it barely marks 3.5 meters long. Although we cannot deny that its design style is quite attractive for an urban car.
The SEV E-WAN will be available for purchase online from November 15 on the brand’s site. Then it will start deliveries from December 1 and will cost $299,900 in the Lite version and $399,900 in the Bold. It will have a 120,000 km or 5 year warranty on the powertrain.
