Synology is one of the alternatives to use the cloud and, for example, not depend on Google Photos, something that we made clear with the test we did at the time. And now, comes a plus to this tool that sees how Synology Photos arrives in the form of an application for televisions.
Synology Photos is the utility that, imitating Google Photos, from which it inherits many functions, is one of the best alternatives since it allows us to host all our photos without the cost of a monthly subscription thanks to the fact that we have our own cloud on a NAS of the brand. And now, in addition, it makes it easier for them to be seen on TV.
Your photos on TV
If we have a Synology NAS and we have installed the application from the Package Center, after copying the photos to the Photos folder in the home directory and after the corresponding indexing, we can access from mobileregardless of whether it was an Android phone or an iPhone.
The news now is that Synology Photos arrives in the form of a native application for televisions with the Android TV or Google TV operating system. In this way we can see directly on TV all the photos and images stored on the NAS.
So far, using Google Photos on a TV with Android TV or Google TV is a somewhat confusing and unclear process, something that Synology Photos makes much easier and more intuitive. In fact the app offers an interface very similar to that of Google Photos. The main view is a timeline of the photos, by days and with an indication of the location where it was taken.
Synology already had an Android TV version of its DS Photobut unlike this, which is a legacy application that lacks the advanced functions that Synology Photos does have, in true Google Photos style.
Synology Photos is now available on the Google Play Store In this link and if you can’t find it, you can also download the Android TV version of Synology Photos from APK Mirror and then install it on your Smart TV.
To use it, Synology Photos will be necessary, of course, have a Synology NAS and the photos stored on it. Then it will be enough to log in to the application the same as we do on the mobile, enter the local IP address of the NAS or the personalized QuickConnect ID and the data and login.
