However, yesterday we read in TorrentFreak that Italy’s Guardia di Finanza (which is something like a Treasury police there) have begun to send letters, with fines, to more than 1,500 people who consume this type of content. The fine is 154 euros (which drops to 51 for early payment) but, in case of recidivism, this could increase up to 1032 euro.
For now, this has only been a first wave, and it is very possible that many more cases will arrive soon, at least in that country. In Spain, for the moment, there has been no case of these. However, as soon as a country starts, and it is seen that the measure is successful, it is very easy for something similar to end up arriving in our country.
Therefore, it is necessary to know how to avoid it.
Avoid being fined for using IPTV
Although, we repeat, sanctions are not yet being applied in our country, it is always advisable to apply security measures that can help us avoid being identified for using this type of service. In the case of Italy, for example, they have used “hooks” to identify and locate customers. Thus, for example, they have offered IPTV accounts in different online forums, and have infiltrated Telegram channels where this type of TV is sold. In this way, they have obtained the data of the users and have proceeded to their identification and subsequent fine.
Therefore, the first security measure that we recommend is make sure who we buy from this content. In Spain there is a lot of sale of IPTV (and CCAM and IKS keys) through Telegram. They sell it as being from Spain, it is faster and more stable, but we do not know if there is a trustworthy person behind it (rarely), a hacker, or even the Police or Civil Guard. Although it is not so attractive, you should always try to buy this content directly from China on websites such as Aliexpress. Of course, the payment method, if it is anonymous (for example, if they allow you to pay with cryptocurrencies) much better.
Another way in which they can detect us is filtering carrier traffic. If they detect that we are using IPTV, they can easily send us a request also based on our IP address. The solution is obvious: hide our traffic. And we can do this very easily using a vpn. In this way, we will hide our traffic, protect our privacy and it will be impossible for us to be caught using IPTV.
