If we do not want to be caught unexpectedly and without the appropriate protection measures, before leaving home we should take a look at the weather forecast through one of the different web pages available. However, it is not the fastest or most comfortable method, since it forces us to carry out different clicks on the mouseslowing down the process necessary to know the information we need.
The solution is to use some of the different widgets available for Windows that show us both the current weather information and the forecast for the next few hours and days. We can also make use of the Windows widget, although the information it shows us is much more limited.
News and interests
If we do not want to use any third-party application or widget, Windows, both in Windows 10 and Windows 11, allows us to display weather information on the taskbar. This information is available by clicking the right mouse button and selecting the option News and interests.
Within the News and interests configuration options, we can configure its operation so that it only shows the weather icon or the icon together with the description, this last option being the best to be informed at all times. This panel is available from the right side of the taskbar in Windows 10 while in Windows 11 it is located on the left side.
Weather Bar
If the information that the default Windows widget shows us is not enough, an excellent option is found in Weather Bar, a completely free widget that, when you place the mouse over it, displays weather information that includes wind speed, the probability of rain, the wind chill and much more.
Once we have installed the application on our computer, the icon of the current temperature of our location is displayed on the taskbar and when clicking on it, a floating window with the information we need before leaving home. It is a free application that we can download through this link.
weathermate
Another interesting option that we have at our disposal to know the weather information quickly from the taskbar and without opening the browser, is WeatherMate. WeatherMate is a free application that, once installed, adds an icon with the current temperature to the right of the taskbar.
The first time we open the application, we have to change the interface language to spanish through the cogwheel of the widget. We must also change the unit of measurement from ºF to ºC and select the location where we want this information to be displayed at all times on any application that we have open on our computer.
We can configure sound alerts based on weather information and add the weather map, in addition to many other options. WeatherMate is an application portable and free that we can download from its web page through the following link from where we can download the compressed application in ZIP format or in an .EXE file that is compressed in the location that we want.
