After entering Settings, tap on Apps and scroll down the list until you find “Android Auto”. After that click on “App Store Details”. That will get you exactly App profile on Google Play, exactly the same as you found if you accessed following the instructions in the previous paragraph. In both cases, click on “Update” if the button appears, since this will get you the latest version. If instead of updating you only see “Uninstall”, it means that there is no additional version available.
force update
It is possible that by doing what we have indicated before, you will not find any update even if you know that there is one that is already being sent to user devices. The reason for this is that these updates are sometimes progressive, so it is possible that they have not yet reached your terminal. However, this does not mean that you have to wait for it. There is a solution.
What you should do is update the Google Play Services app, which is in charge of managing the updates received by the applications available on Android. The update process is the same as the one we talked about in the previous example.
If that doesn’t work either, we recommend that you clear the cache of Android Auto. This is also very simple. First go to Settings, then Apps, choose Android Auto and access the Storage menu. Several options will appear, but scroll down to the bottom and notice that, on the right, it says “clean cache”. The mobile will eliminate the accumulated cache of Android Auto and now it is more than possible that, if you try to update again, you will find a new version.
Manually update with the APK
Although the methods that we have indicated before are always more recommended because you are downloading from Google Play, there are also other options. One of them is that you manually download the APK file that contains the app update. But be careful: don’t download it from any page. The most recommended option and the one that usually has the support of professionals is APKMirrorin which you can find the Android Auto tab in a simple way.
By downloading the APK file you have the advantage of being able to access a multitude of versions, not just the latest update. It is recommended, however, that if you are looking for only the latest version pay close attention to the date on which each of them was published. The reason is that these versions of the file are not ordered according to the moment of its publication, so you have to look carefully.
Once the APK file is downloaded, all you have to do is touch on it from your mobile and it will be installed. When you restart the device, the latest version that you have installed manually will already be used.
Use Android Auto Beta
If what you want is to always have the latest version of Android Auto, what you will need is to take part in the Beta program of the application. This is the way in which Google provides you with the possibility of receive the most recent version of the tool on your device, one that is still in the testing phase and is not ready for its arrival on the devices of all users. This is how, for example, you will have the opportunity to test functions that may still take a few months to arrive in the normal edition of Android Auto.
Unfortunately, Android Auto Beta usually has a full participation quota and it is not usual that you find yourself with space available to enter. The best you can do are two things. The first is to visit the beta website from time to time to see if there are any slots available. The second is, if you really want to try the betas, download their APK following the steps that we have given you in the previous section. As you will see on APKMirror, beta versions are also available.
Details to be considered
Finally, we love you comment a couple of things that will help you in concrete situations. On the one hand, you should know that if you start using the Android Auto beta, you will not be able to also have the normal version. It is only possible to have one of the two applications on the mobile. If you want to go back to the regular edition, you will need to unsubscribe from the beta version first.
On the other hand, it is important that you also value the use of Android Auto APK files as a way of go back to a previous version of the app if, at any time, the service has stopped working for you. Normally any problem will be solved with Google with another update, but if you want to go back to a previous version, APKs will be your alternative. As we said, remember to only download from trusted sources.
