Today, there was a 15-minute online stream from Nintendo showing off the latest from their flagship plumber’s latest game. Among the big surprises is that Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be available in Latin Spanish, as well as part of the story and new powers.
Beyond the traditional tropes of these Nintendo video games and that we can, we discover what characters will be available, and some of them will make their debut in this game:
- Peach
- Mario
- Luigi
- Daisy
- Toad
- Toadette
- nabbitt
- Yoshi (red, yellow, blue and green)
In general, all the characters available in this installment are handled in a similar way, this means that Luigi will not have his long jump or Peach will no longer float in the sky. Only Nabbit and Yoshi will have extra abilities like eating their enemies or resisting attacks to not take any damage.
Well, apart from the surprise that Super Mario Bros. Wonder will arrive in Latin Spanish, there are a couple of surprises regarding the power-ups. When Nintendo introduced Elephant Mario, it quickly became an internet meme. But, now we know that he will not only look funny but have different powers like using his trunk to attack enemies, destroy blocks with his strength, store water and spray it, and perform many other actions.
We also saw other power-ups like the Bubble and the Drill, as well as the return of the classic fire flower. The first of these allows players to blow bubbles that are used to capture and defeat enemies, or to make strategic jumps to new areas.
On the other hand, the drill protects against more formidable enemies and allows you to dig underground or drill into objects.
The most interesting thing is the Wonder Flower, whose powers can trigger strange events like Mario transformed into a Goomba o The level can warp in various ways, fill with giant glowing bubbles, pipes can come to life and much more.
How much will Super Mario Bros. Wonder cost?
If you are interested in getting Super Mario Bros. Wonder now that it will arrive in Latin Spanish, you can get it in some digital stores with shipping to Mexico by 769 pesos. However, if you prefer a local one, its price can go up to 1,399.
This game that will arrive on October 20, 2023 also represents a change in the 2D games of the franchise, at least, in the cooperative game. This time it will not only be available locally but also online.
The online function also includes the possibility of going through levels together with “shadow” versions of other players. So even if you’re not playing in the same place, you can still interact, compare stats, and even resurrect each other if you die in a level.
“Wonder” marks the first Mario game after Charles Martinet, the veteran voice actor who brings the iconic jumping, mushroom-eating hero to life, retired from the role. Fans were curious about Mario’s voice after noticing a slight difference in the initial reveal trailer. Finally, it was confirmed that Martinet would not play Mario in “Wonder”. However, he will continue to be a part of the franchise as a “Mario Ambassador,” sharing Mario’s light-hearted essence with fans around the world.
