Although until now there is no exact figure around the sales generated by this promotional event, previous estimates provided by the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur) indicated that the edition of the Good End this year, could exceed the goal of 195 billion pesos.
The truth is that these billions in sales would come with a series of complaints about unfulfilled sales promises that, although, according to the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco), they have been less than in past editions, they do not leave to attract attention.
In this way, a report from the agency that oversees consumer rights in the country indicates that during the four days that this Good End lasted, about 574 complaints were registered, which translates into 44 percent less than the thousand 030 made last year, when the event lasted seven days.
It is interesting to recognize that the number of claims increased as the sales season came to an end: The first day 72 complaints were received, the second 158, on the third day there were 100, while the last day 244 were recorded.Among the causes of these complaints around the Good End, three were the reasons that prompted the claims, led by the cancellation of the purchase, followed by the general non-compliance with offers and prices not respected.
The kings of complaints in the Good End
If we talk about the brands that concentrated the greatest number of complaints, we have that Walmart was left with 206, Hewlett-Packard HP México with 101 and Soriana with 18, while the entities with the most complaints were Mexico City (115), State of Mexico (74) and Jalisco (45).
The case of Walmart draws attention if we consider that the self-service store chain does not officially participate in the Good End. Instead, it has its own strategy, “The Irresistible End”, which in past editions has even been in advance to conquer the pockets of buyers before anyone else.
Lastly, and as expected, the technology category was the one that concentrated the greatest number of complaints during this edition of the Good End. Thus, the most claimed products during the sales season were computers and laptops (115 complaints), clothing and footwear (72) and smartphones (54).
