It’s been an unanswered question for several months: will the Ted Lasso series return for a fourth season exclusively on Apple TV+? According to the latest information from Deadline, Apple and Warner Bros Television have indeed given their approval for a fourth season. While this has not yet been made official, the American media outlet mentions several pieces of information that no longer leave any doubt about the arrival of new episodes.
Ted Lasso season 4 is coming soon
Since the beginning of the year, rumors about a fourth season of the Apple original series “Ted Lasso” have been circulating on the internet. One of the members of the production of the series had previously stated in an interview that a fourth season was only possible if Jason Sudeikis (the actor who plays Ted Lasso) agreed to film new episodes. Apparently, the discussions were conclusive, because Jason Sudeikis, but also Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) will all be present in season 4 of Ted Lasso.
The report states that Warner Bros. Television has approached almost all of the actors who appeared in the final season. The studio’s goal behind this move is to sign new contracts, since the last one expired, Warner Bros. Television clearly did not expect a fourth season. This phase could take time, because signing a new contract to shoot new episodes necessarily means financial negotiations. Most of the leading actors will probably take advantage of the excellent ratings of the third season as well as the hype around Ted Lasso to negotiate higher pay per episode.
At the moment, Warner Bros Television and Apple have not yet officially announced the continuation of the Ted Lasso series, we are only at the rumor stage, however, the information held by Deadline seems to indicate that everything is about to be wrapped up, thanks in part to Jason Sudeikis who has agreed to participate in a fourth season. According to the report, all contracts are signed with the main actors and the budget and planning are approved by Apple, production on Season 4 could begin as early as the first quarter of 2025.
For Apple, producing a fourth season of Ted Lasso is a strategic priority. The series not only broke records by winning 13 Emmy Awards in its first three seasons, but it also earned individual awards for Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein. Ted Lasso has also been instrumental in building the profile of Apple TV+, which has helped boost the service’s popularity.
Season 3, which began airing in May 2023, ended with a scene that suggested that it was the definitive end of the Ted Lasso series. In the last minutes of the last episode, Coach Lasso could be seen on a football field in Kansas training his son. Ted Lasso had a happy and proud face to see his son learning this sport that he loves so much.
Will Ted Lasso leave his family again in season 4 to join Richmond and coach AFC Richmond again? Will he continue his adventures in the United States, far from the United Kingdom where the entire story has taken place so far? For the moment, it is impossible to know what Jason Sudeikis has in mind, but he will in any case continue to be the co-creator and executive producer of the upcoming episodes.
