The French operator joins the implementation of the tool eSIM Quick Transfer on iPhone, so Movistar and O2 are not the only ones that offer this possibility to their clients. This option was already discovered with the launch of the beta iOS 17.4but now that it has been released to all users, we wanted to test if it works and this is the result.
How to switch to a free eSIM on Orange
A few weeks ago, both in Orange and in Vodafone, it was revealed that this tool to switch to a virtual card without having to go to a physical store or call the operator was a reality. Now, with the update to iOS 17.4 now available to all users, we did not want to miss the opportunity to try eSIM Quick Transfer on iPhone, in this case, from the orange operator.
To use this tool, all you have to do is update your iPhone to iOS 17.4 and follow these series of steps from your smartphone. In our case we have tested this function with an iPhone 14 Pro Max:
- Enter the Settings app.
- Click on the Mobile Data tab.
- Tap on the option that says Convert to eSIM.
- Click on the button again Convert to eSIM.
- A message appears in which you must confirm again.
- Afterwards, you will have to click on the side button twice to confirm the change to the virtual card.
- Once done, you will get the following message: «Mobile plan setup completed. The Orange Spain eSIM has been activated on this iPhone«.
When you finish the entire process, you should be clear that you can now remove the physical card from the Apple smartphone. And from that moment on, the physical card will stop working on phone. What this tool does is transform from SIM to eSIM without having to pay the operator or contact the company.
And in other operators?
It must be taken into account that, in operators such as Orange, replacing SIM with eSIM have a price €5. However, with this new functionality for iPhones, customers of the French operator do not have to check out, since in a matter of seconds they can get a virtual card with their number completely free of charge. AND on Vodafone It’s the same, the change costs you 5 euros. In addition, it should be noted that it is also available on the red operator. You only need to update the iOS for this tool to appear.
The same thing happens, for example, in Movistar. The Spanish company sets a price of almost €15 (14.50 euros) if existing customers want to switch from a physical card to a virtual one by going to a store or calling the operator. Contrary to what happens at O2, since in the low-cost operator Telefónica the virtual card is free. In any case, in these four operators this option is now available by following this series of steps and best of all, completely free.
