Remote control

There will be cases where we can’t find the remote, which will make it very difficult to work with Google TV Home.

This has a solution thanks to the Google TV application, since it has a practical integrated remote control, compatible with both Android and iOS terminals.

The best thing is that you don’t need any kind of driver to set up the virtual remote. We only have to do the following.

  • Once the Google TV application is downloaded and installed on the smartphone, click on tv remote.
  • We select the tv list.
  • We enter the six-digit alphanumeric code that is displayed on the selected TV.
  • Now we give in Match.

<h2><span id=Applications on the television thanks to the smartphone

Having Google TV and an Android phone will allow us to install applications from the smartphone to the television.

This is the easiest way to perform this action:

  • we open Google Play Store on the phone and we look for the application that we want to install on our Google TV.
  • From the application page, we open the dropdown list to see more options.
  • So, on the popup screen, we will see a list of connected devices.
  • We select the TV in which we want to install the application.
  • we give in Install so that it is ready to be used on our TV.

Family on Google TV

Google TV allows, like the vast majority of current streaming platforms such as Netflix, HBO or Disney +, each member of your family to have an individual profile

This leaves everyone with their own watchlist and content suggestions tailored to their viewing pattern.

To create a profile you must do the following:

  • We click on the icon of our profile and then on add account.
  • On the profile manager page, we select add account.
  • Click on Add an account either add a child if we want to set up a profile for our child.
  • Now we log in with the user’s Google account details and that’s it. If we want we can change accounts using the profile icon.

Similar app only mode

It may be that one of the things that annoys some users the most is that Google TV has its main page full of recommendations for series, movies, documentaries and advertisements.

If we want a simpler interface, we can achieve it thanks to the application-only mode.

This is how we must enable it:

  • In the TV Settings, we are going to Accounts and login
  • We select our profile on the next page.
  • We go down and activate the Apps only mode.
  • We confirm by clicking the button Activate.

Google Watch List

Google TV has a cross platform watch list It syncs with Google services.

This means that if we add a movie to our list from the Google searchit will automatically sync and attach to your Android TV.

There are three ways to complete our Google watch list:

  • When we search for a movie or series, we give the button I want to see.
  • From the Google TV application on our mobile, we click on watch list on the movie title page.
  • On the television, we click on the Watch List button on the movie title page.

Enable HDMI-CEC

If we use the Chromecast with Google TV we must know that it is compatible with HDMI-CEC, which allows you to use only the remote control Chromecast with compatible TVs.

With the option enabled, basic things can be done on your TV, like turning on the Chromecast or smart TV.

To do this, you just have to configure it as follows:

  • In Settingwe open Screen and sound.
  • We are going to HDMI-CEC.
  • Click on Enable HDMI-CEC.

With everything you have been able to read today, you can now get more out of Google TV and that it offers you new capabilities.
